The starting point for the project was to bring two existing identities together into a cohesive digital expression for Kulturdirektoratet. A central part of the work was to clarify the directorate's role as both a public actor and secretariat for three independent bodies: the Arts Council, the Government Grants for Artists, and the Fund for Sound and Image.
The website is designed to reflect Kulturdirektoratet's broad mandate as a facilitator, advisor and knowledge provider for the arts and culture sector — with particular emphasis on key tasks ranging from applying for grants and finding the right funding scheme to providing an overview of allocations, subject areas and projects. The structure and content have been developed to make it easier for different user groups to navigate, from practising artists and applicants to institutions, policymakers and the general public.
The project has aimed to consolidate and make accessible an extensive content universe in a way that feels intuitive, clear and inclusive.
The result is a flexible digital platform that combines structure, universal design and a cohesive visual expression — and that highlights Kulturdirektoratet's role as an open, advisory and forward-looking actor in Norwegian cultural life, based on the idea of both making space and taking space.
Jeanette was responsible for the visual design of the website, including the further development and merging of two existing identities in a digital context. UI/UX was carried out in collaboration with the rest of the core team and in close dialogue with the client team.
